there is such a useful tool in corel - to count the amount of objects in a layer. Is there a same function in Inkscape working internally or through a special plugin? Thank you in advance, this in urgent

a bit belated answer but you can do that:
press Ctrl+A to select all objects on a layer, then read the amount of selected objects on the bottom indicator tab.
Works for each layer only, and it won't count objects on sublayers, or objects inside groups as separate objects.
